In addition to the Country Park, Ditchling is blessed with two large areas of communal land (‘Commons’) which trace their origins back to medieval times. Ditchling Common is located south of the Country Park on Folders Lane, whilst Ditchling Teantry Down and Beacon is on the South Downs escarpment some 4 miles south.

Footpaths & Bridleways
Both are rich in flora, the Beacon having almost 300 differing species of plants. The Commons are also home to buzzards, sparrowhawks and kestrels. Significantly they are amongst the best sites for butterflies in Sussex. They are traversed by footpath and bridleway routes enabling easy access from the Village and connection to the South Downs Way.
